then we customize those shocks to fit your application

by length and mounting configuration.

OEM replacement shocks are equivalent to what came on your car.

Extra Heavy duty shocks have approximately 50% more piston area to

 spread the load across and twice the oil capacity to dissipate heat faster.

Most car or trucks built before1985 came with hydraulic shocks.

Although they are the same strength as gas shocks: hydraulic shocks feel softer

and are closest to the original ride you can get.

Gas shocks offer a crisper feel and better handling.

We offer 4 options:

1. Rebuild your original shocks. We can renumber and redate them if needed.

2. Provide you with a set of rebuilt shocks with correct number and date.

3. Provide NOS shocks, will fit but will not match OEM numbers.

4. Show Prep service will clean your shocks to bare metal, replace

bushings, studs and mounting parts as needed to look like new. This is not a rebuild.

History of A-1 Shock Absorber Company

Established in 1936 to rebuild all brands of lever action shocks.

The company grew and then declined as the original owners aged.

We (Mark and Phillip Lincenberg) purchased the business in 1982,

we created our own line of  shocks that we sold worldwide.

We also diversified into rebuilding heavy duty truck steering gears.

As the market changed so did A-1 Shock, we began specializing in

suspension parts for vintage, classic, and custom cars and trucks.

All parts are guaranteed to fit and function properly.

Once ordered, parts can not be cancelled or returned.
